Bahrain's crypto custody market has reported its second licensed operator, and the arrival of the second is the competition that turns a custody service into a custody market. One custodian is a monopoly; two is the beginning of the price and service competition that benefits the institutions that use them.
The custody layer is the foundation of institutional crypto participation, and the quality and cost of the custody determine what the institutions can do. A single custodian is a bottleneck: every institutional user depends on one provider, and the provider's limitations become the market's limitations. A second custodian is the beginning of the competition that improves the service, reduces the price, and widens the asset coverage, and the improvement is what the institutional market needs.
